Martyn Ashton’s Road Bike Party swept across the internet in October…

Following the British success in the Tour de France and Olympics over the summer, Martyn takes the £10,000 Pinarello carbon road bike on a party ride! We grabbed a few words with Mr Ashton to ask him about the success of the video which has now had nearly 7 million views.
What gave you the idea for Road Bike Party, and what convicned you it could be so successful?
I’ve always enjoyed doing skids and wheelies on a road bike. It was really just a progression of that. Just pushing the limit whilst having a healthy respect for the bike and trying not to break it! I didn’t know it would be successful. I hoped, but never dreamed it would go so well. I’m pretty chuffed and thankful to everyone who watched it and shared it.
Do you feel video-making has changed trials biking since the bad hair days of the (now legendary) Dirty Tricks and Cunning Stunts?
No not really. I think trials always lends itself to video. The Danny Mac videos are another example of how the trials scene can reach-out beyond it’s niche and appeal to the mainstream. I think the key to the success of RBP is that regular riders can relate to the bike.
Thanks Martyn.

Grab a brew, and enjoy Road Bike Party again!
