TORQ Energy and Recovery – First Look

Torq are more than just a manufacturer of energy and recovery products, they are a complete fitness consultancy,  and they’ve fired us over a box load of their gels, drinks and bars. Yum Yum.

TORQ Mix

I have been using these types of energy products for a while now but in a random and uneducated way, just taking one when it felt right sort of thing. Since I have been looking at these TORQ products I have been reading their literature and they have an easy to understand method for use. A lot of their products are available in particular sizes which fall into their Torq Fuelling System guide. This is a system that recommends either 60 or 90g of carbohydrates per hour. That is quite neatly a combination of a single gel, bar or sachet of energy drink which each contain 30g of carbohydrates.

TORQ Gel

TORQ Gel – 45g – £1.55

The gels are quite thick in texture and the flavour combinations are a nice change from the norm. The opening tab is a neat solution to try and help cut down on litter too. Anything that can help cut down on trail litter has to be a good thing, obviously this still requires the rider to take the whole empty sachet with them.

TORQ Bars

TORQ Bar – 45g – £1.55

The first thing that struck me about these bars are their consistency, so many bars out there require just as much energy to chew them as they give you back. These TORQ bars though aren’t too dry and can easily be eaten while riding along without the need for a gallon of water to wash them down.
