SPY Omen MX Goggles – First Look
SPY make some of the raddest looking goggles on the market – the Omen MX just dropped through the postbox and we were immediately excited.

The Omen MX has been designed with input from Supercross racer Justin Barcia to give the widest possible field of view without being bulky and over engineered. Following a similar “outrigger” design to others on the market the goggles manage to maintain their own style and avoid looking generic. The frame is flexible making them comfortable to wear and also helping making swapping between the lenses easy – something you can practice as you get both a mirrored and clear one in the pack along with a neatly designed cloth bag with two sections for storing spare lenses or other bits you might need. The lenses are all treated to resist scratching and misting as well as boasting tear off mounts and plenty of notches round the edges to aid in lining up during lens swaps.

Around the frame is a four layer foam padding that feels wonderfully comfortable – the softer layers giving to the contours of your face while the firmer layers offer some support. The straps has bucket loads of adjustment in it, as well as a thick silicone rib running all the way round – once these are on your helmet they aren’t going far! So far we’ve only tried them on a Troy Lee D3 and an Urge Downomatic but on both helmets they fit well, without feeling too much space around the edges. The vents around the frame are designed to keep things clear in all conditions, and along with the ribbed nose guard add to the stylings.

Those stylings are dead easy to fit to your gear with 10 different colourways for 2015 to suit almost any taste. For more details pop into your local bike shop (that stock stuff from One Industries, the UK Distributor)

We are back off to the Alps next week to give these a proper testing, and will report back on the view they give us of those Alpine peaks…
