Royal Racing 2016 – First Look
Royal have some bold new colours and some fresh new gear, check out the first look.
Much like the oval-ring-rule there is an unwritten rule that every year, a significant proportion of gear aimed at aggressive trail riding should be called the “Stage”. Royal have obliged this year with the Stage jersey and shorts, aimed at enduro racers.

The Stage jersey is a light and athletically cut jersey, with a wicking fabric and and a range of bold colours. The cut is just the right level of baggy with just enough room for a bit of armour if you wanted. Under the arms are mesh panels work to keep you cool on hotter rides, and let out your enduro-sweat.
RRP £44.99

The Stage shorts strike a happy medium between feature packed and over-done. They are light weight with a race orientated cut and plenty of venting, but still have proper pockets at the waist and on the thighs. The waist is adjusted by the tried and tested Velcro strips, and the fly is similarly secure. These strike me as a pair of shorts that would be equally at home on a cruisy day on the trails as they would be racing at the highest level.
RRP £69.99

The Core gloves are a very simple and light glove. A perforated thin palm, slip on cuff and heavily vented fingers are definitely aimed at hot days and riders who don’t want gloves. A stretchy mesh on the back and a big thumb wipe complete the glove. I loved my old Royal Signature gloves, and these look to be the next step in super-light.
