Muc-Off Athlete Performance – First Look
Muc-Off are synonymous with bike cleaning, but have also been steadily growing their range of products for people. We had their Athlete Performance range arrive to give a go.
The pink spray bottle has been a staple of my post-ride rituals for years, so I was excited to see what the Athlete Performance range was all about.

There are five products in the range currently; first up is one that many riders should recognise – Chamois Cream, a staple for anyone who rides a long way and spends a long time in the saddle. Given the current weather conditions, chamois cream for road rides and cross country rides is going to be a good idea to help stave off crotch-rot.

I have to admit, my first thought is that these are some very expensive snake oils, but I thought about it a bit more, and also did some reading into the research that has been done into this sort of product and there is some real science behind it. As well as giving all the creams a good go, I plan to do some proper testing with a bit of science behind them, to see if we can put some numbers on how these products work for riders at a range of levels. First impressions are that all of the creams smell really nice, the chamois cream has done a great job so far and the others seem pleasant enough, but it’s hard to judge exactly what effect they are having on a first couple of applications. Further testing will ensure, now where’s my bike?!
