Leatt Six.Five Neck brace – First Look

We click on the new Leatt Six.Five neckbrace and take it for a few laps. Get all the info on this ever-evolving piece of protection.

Last year I ran the Five.Five neckbrace, and was really impressed with the level of protection and comfort it offered, even giving it a proper test by braining myself on a tree and wrecking a helmet. This year we have the next step in the evolution of the neck brace, the Six.Five.

The first thing you notice is the thickness, this is one thin brace! For 2015 Leatt have taken the tried and tested shape from the Five.Five and built it from super-thin carbon fibre. Adjustments are still easy. As with the Five.Five, the front and rear sections slide forwards and backwards easily, with fine tuning achieved with a range of wedges and pads that simply clip on.

Fit is still great. With two sizes, plus a kids option, Leatt have the whole family covered. Security is available for all tastes. As with the Five.Five, the options for securing the brace include integration with Leatt’s own armour or using the provided straps. While pretty expensive. The Six.Five sits right at the top of the price bracket for neck braces, Leatt recognise that and offer a range of cheaper options.

The Six.Five sports all the usual features of a Leatt brace – secure opening/closing and the ability for the emergency services to remove it without moving you un-necessarily.

We’ll be strapping on the Six.Five and jumping on the uplift bus plenty over the winter to bring you a detailed review, my first couple of rides in it I’ve been very impressed with the comfort and light weight of it.
