The X1 Pedals are HT Components newest Downhill Pedal. Designed in collaboration with Aaron Gwin they feature a strong CNC machined aluminium platform and Cro-Moly Steel Axle built around 3 sealed bearing and a DU Bushing, these are clearly built for abuse.

HT-X1-SPD

First ride impressions are that these pedals have massive amounts of spring tension and firmly lock you in, more so than pretty much any pedal we have previously tried. The potential of clipping out accidentally are pretty slim to say the least which leads to the fact that actually clipping out requires a really positive motion from the user. Clipping in also requires some considerable effort, we found it needed a real push and a bit of practice to find the correct point – although this can probably be said for all that have used SPD’s before. Once you’re in, you are in, which out on the trail inspired a real confidence. There is very little float on them, which takes a little getting used to. The hex screw used for adjusting the spring tension has lots of range and even on its lowest setting we found it really strong.

We’ll be trying the X1 for the rest of the season to see how we get on with them. Full review coming soon.
