ANVL Components – First Look

We’ve had these items from Anvl for a few weeks now and have now had chance to give them a ride out. Here are my first impressions.

Riding 1(sml)

I thought I’d go and try out a track I used to ride quite a lot but haven’t been to for quite a while. Unfortunately it would appear that no one has been for quite a while apart from the forestry. They have cut in new clearings every 50 yards across the whole section of woodland. Some work will be required to get this track rolling well again but we still managed to get a bit of riding done with the new Anvl products.

Close Pedal(sml)

The Tilt Alloy pedal.
Material – 6061 extruded alloy 3D CNC.
Thickness – 14mm at the centre.
Bearings – 3 cartridge bearings and 1 DU bushing.
Pins – 20 per pedal.
Weight – 378g a pair.
Colour options – black, red and blue.
RRP £130

Foot Pedal

These pedals might not have the largest platform on the market but that can’t be felt once riding. The grip they offer is fantastic and their low profile helps them stay clear of any impending obstructions. First impressions are very good and I’ll continue to ride them and bring further update before long.

Riding 2(sml)

Diameter – 35mm.
Weight – 289g (20mm rise) or 312g (35mm rise).

Arc DM stem.

Colour options – black, red and blue.
RRP £100

Close Bars(sml)

The first thing to say about these bars is how instantly at home I felt riding them and I was moving to these from a 750mm wide set of bars with a standard clamp size. They have spent a lot of time working on the sweep, both up and back to enhance the ride feel, it shows. The taper also works, they have managed to design a bar with a 35mm clamp size that doesn’t look overly big in the centre, it tapers away nicely towards the grips. Stiffness feels spot on while still being able to feel what is going on underneath. The combination of the Mandrel bar and the Arc stem feels very positive and one that I am happy to say I will be continuing to ride for a while to come. Watch out for more news on these after more riding.

Riding 3(sml)

In the coming months with the worsening weather the pedals will be getting a good hammering and I’ll be heading to other venues to make sure I can give them all a good testing. Watch this space.
