7iDP M2 Helmet – Review
I’ve had a few bits of 7iDP kit since they launched their first gear a few years ago, including the Covert, some of my favourite knee pads for trail riding. Their kit is always well thought out and packed with features, sometimes overly so perhaps (boa kneepad overkill?). The M2 is a pleasingly simple full coverage trail lid with a nice low price point. As a cheaper lid, how does it stack up?

The outer shell of the M2 is a tough plastic littered with vents and sculpted detail, highlighted in some of the more rowdy colourways. Underneath is a dual density EPS foam , something becoming much more prevalent across helmet ranges to absorb both big and small forces. This is a great feature to see on a lower priced helmet.

Inside, the liner and one hand adjusted cradle work together to keep the lid on your head. The liner also features a mesh across the front vents to trap bugs, and it does a great job of absorbing sweat and directing it away from your face. The straps are easily adjusted as well.

On your head it fits well, the cradle holding it nicely, and it certainly feels better than the price suggests. Coverage is good as well, sitting well over the softer bits of my head. I have a 59cm head, and the M/L is about right, the sizing chart is on the money. The padding has a bit of give as well so if you have a weird head these could be a good option.

I’ve not found it to be overly hot, even on brutally hot days that somehow also include horrific climbs. The only downside for media-enthusiasts is there isn’t really anywhere flat for a GoPro mount. Definitely a first world problem however! The RRP of £59.99 is pretty cheap for such a good helmet, and plenty of places are offering tidy discounts, especially on some of the rowdier colourways!
