Top 5 runs from Red Bull Rampage 2015
The best riders in the world converged in the Utah desert yesterday to test their mettle in mountain biking’s greatest freeride contest.
We’ve assembled the top five Red Bull Rampage runs in their entirety. Check them out below and visit the Red Bull Rampage event page for additional video coverage from this year’s competition.
First place: Kurt Sorge
Kurt Sorge repeated his 2012 Rampage victory with a run that showed just how fast and flowy the Canadian rider can be. With a steep drop up top, a fast run down the Fest ridge, and a massive sender of a backflip no hander at the end, Sorge showed that fast and stylish with a hint of gnar is still the ticket to win at Rampage.
Second place: Andreu Lacondeguy
The charismatic Spaniard overcame injury to take a second-place finish. Riding the same line as last year (with some revisions), Lacondeguy rode his bike fast, smooth and stylish, showing the world that consistency is important when working your way into the annals of freeride history.
Third place: Graham Agassiz
For the past three years Graham Agassiz has qualifed in first place at Rampage. Despite putting down some of the most blistering runs the Utah desert has ever seen, the Canadian has fallen short of landing on the podium. This year, he was arguably a favourite to win but fell to the judges’ fickle axe and landed in third. Third is a respectable finish, but something tells us he won’t be happy until he takes the big prize.
Fourth place: Brandon Semenuk
The former Red Bull Rampage champion (2008) and three-time Joyride champion Brandon Semenuk absolutely destroyed the mountain with the grace and fluidity that has become his calling card: big drop, flat drop back flip, opposite 360, backflip one foot can… Semenuk is a legend. As People’s Choice winner, it’s clear many feel the 24-year-old Canadian rider got wronged by the judges. Whichever way you lean, the reality is that this kid continues to build on his iconic status with every pedal stroke.
Fifth place: Thomas Genon
Tommy G stepped up his game big time here, and in the process won the overall FMP World Tour. Riding faster than he normally does, and flashing a bag of tricks throughout his line, the Belgian showed that he is much more than a slopestyle guy. Genon has what it takes to win Rampage. This was merely a warning sign.
