Rose Bikes BDS – Antur Stiniog Race Report & Photo Epic
It was the final BDS of the year and a pretty special one as we commemorated the anniversary of the loss of Jason McRoy with a legends category

Racers gathered this weekend for the final round of the British downhill series in antur Stiniog. The season has flown by this year and to be greeted by sunshine for the final round had all in the pits smiling. For this round to commemorate the late Jason McRoy there was a legends Category made up of the men who helped to make this sport what it is today , to name a few , Steve Peat, Rob Warner and Nigel Page were all competing for top spot .

Saturday practice had a mixture of happy faces, great photos and amazing weather with racers getting to grips with the rocky terrain and awkward corners that this track had to offer. With the weather permitting high speeds there were some big gap lines opening up and racers were showing as much style as they could with only the long sprint finish taking the grin of some racers faces.

Sunday Arrived with racers having got up to speed and learned their lines, they were confronted with fog and rain to make the slate rocks extremely slippery and causing foot some foot out action on most of the track . Nonetheless with a great uplift and challenging track it was all eyes on racing that came at midday. The weather caused upset in seeding with the elites getting the worst of it and Marc Beaumont taking seeding in the elite men’s and Manon Carpenter taking the Women’s

Race runs were a different story however with the weather backing off just enough to allow for racers to push their limits on the wild wet track. In the Men’s Matt Simmonds put together a great run to take the win with a lot of racers getting caught out on the final corner (Emyr “the Pleney Panther “ Davies) Manon Continued her domination with a consistent win in seeding and race runs. In the Legends it was a different story with the majority of the men having a beer on the side line and finishing in style together across the line.

To finish off an amazing weekend their was a ceremony to spread Jason’s Ashes over Antur and to commemorate the memory of a legendary racer taken well before his time.
