Rideitout Meltdown

Ok, so we had a bit of a disaster yesterday and disappeared off the internet, which is akin to never existing in the first place. Let us fill you in on what happened.

Basically our hard drives died. Ok, no big deal hard drives do fail but as long as you back it up you’re good to go and only an idiot wouldn’t have more than one hard drive. And because we’re not idiots we have two hard drives (its called a RAID1) but unbelievably both the hard drives died!

But because we are really smart and really careful and make sure that we are prepared for the unthinkable we also had a daily remote backup running elsewhere backing up our site files and databases. However, due to a technical glitch, that backup had been backing up the wrong database for the past 8 or so months. So in a nutshell that meant we had nothing left. It was all gone.

Thankfully however Al, our super IT bod, had a random back-up of our site back from October last year when he was testing stuff, which means we can restore things up to that point. But since then we’ve done a lot of work, a lot of videos, a lot of product reviews, a lot of race reports which we don’t want to consign to the ‘Internet Dustbin’ forever, so that means a lot of laborious searching for all of those articles and features and getting them all back online. That will take some time but we’ll get there and in the meantime we will continue to bring you new content everyday as we always have.
