Bike Place Bites – Orange Five
Orange Bikes give their ever popular Five an overhaul into the world of 275.

The Five is Orange Bikes best selling model and has been for some time. With its good angles, UK heritage build and fit and forget ethos you find with the single pivot Orange frames, it’s been a winner for both the weekend warrior and full time rider.

For 2015 the bike will be equipped with a new Monocoque tubing design heading up a slightly longer wheelbase and 10mm extra reach, while the head angle goes just .5 of a degree slacker. The way the shock sits on the frame has also been refined slightly, spreading the load and making it a strong build.

While this isn’t a ground breaking bike or massive change for Orange, the few updates it does feature are bound to keep the Five as their best selling bike and popular on the trails for many more seasons to come.

The Five will be available in three build kits or as frame only. In true Orange style these bikes are already on the shelf in medium. If you want another size though you won’t have to wait long.
Five S RRP £2600
Five Pro RRP £3200
Five RS RRP £4000
Five Frame/Shock £1600
Watch Toby Pantling rail about on the fresh new Five in this video:

So where did the Five come from? Some of us will remember this machine – the Sub Five. Looking now somewhat out-dated, Orange have stuck to their guns with their aluminum simple yet effective single pivot design.

We have seen the new Alpine 160 before, but why not take a look at the Five’s longer travel brother once again. It’s doubtful you would feel under biked in any situation on this machine.
