Fort William World Cup – Saturday

Things didn’t get off to the best start at Fort William. Miserable weather. Gondola down. Qualifying cancelled. But the show goes on. It’s our Saturday report.

This morning qualifying was cancelled. With the winds too high to run the lift the qualifying event has been postponed. Practice will start bright (hopefully) and early for the riders at 6:30. Qualifying will start at 8:50 for the junior men carrying on through the categories. Racing will then follow, commencing at 11:45 with Junior men.

With no riding to spectate, Sarah Barrett captured the rest of the event for us.

Bike-in-the-stand
As composed as ever, no time on track today for Gee but time on the turbo instead. No such thing as a day off for the top guys just because of a little wind and rain.
Brolly-weather
This stand must have done a roaring trade today, the wind has made it feel very cold up here. I’ve seen a lot of people of wearing these hats and I don’t blame them.

The crowds haven’t had as much to keep them entertained as they may have been expecting. Danny Mac was in town on his Drop and Roll tour and got them all fired up and took their minds off the weather.

Lots of different waterproof mods appear as soon as the weather turns. If it does the job then all is well.
