Fort William 2016 – 7 Ways To Make Noise
Fort William fans are without doubt the best and noisiest on the World Cup circuit. Here’s 7 of our favourite ways we’ve seen the Fort William crowd make a racket

There’s always one. Megaphone from the gondola is a classic way to encourage your favourite rider coming down as you make your way up.

Good old fashioned shouting, and there was plenty of that this year. A lot of lost voices come the end of play on Sunday.

Cowbells. You can’t beat a cowbell. There are always a good selection of them for sale at Fort William so no excuses. Get them ringing.

More cowbells. Why not? It’s the soundtrack of a World Cup weekend after all.

Got an old bit of bike? Rim? Frame? All you need in addition is a stick, or perhaps some bars. You can’t beat a good rattler!

Cymbal – check! Mate with a guitar – check! “Play a bit of wundddaaaawaaaaall!”

For many, a key ingredient was a powerful combination of bike based stoke and rum.

Ok, so we said 7, but nothing compares to the deafening, respectful silence during Stevie Smith’s run. The sound of over 20,000 people in quiet contemplation was more powerful than any novelty horn, and only matched by the roar of the crowd and smell of two-stroke drifting across the arena as it came to an end. Long. Live. Chainsaw.
