Eurobike 16 – Solid Bikes

Solid announced a complete rework of their Strike DH bike, so we went and had a look.Eurobike-010916-RB-74They’re sticking with aluminium as their frame material of choice, and pushing hard to fully take advantage of what can be done with it.  The new Strike EVO has lost 300g through simplifying dropouts, revising the suspension links, and butting all frame tubes.

Eurobike-010916-RB-76Solid say that stiffness and strength are also increased, the former mainly due to the updated single-piece upper link.

Eurobike-010916-RB-77The Strike is now 650B only, with simple single-position dropouts.  Geometry is completely unchanged, having been comprehensively verified through testing against the clock.

The Strike EVO is available in two different builds, which both share identical frames; Factory and BPS.  The flagship Factory model features Fox suspension front and rear, and weighs in at a very reasonable 33.7lb.  A more affordable Race model is also planned for the near future, which will retail for EUR2999.

Eurobike-010916-RB-75Solid are also proud of their dedicated womens’ DH bike, the Flare EVO – they say it’s not just a case of ‘shrink it and pink it’.  It has a dedicated lady-specific geometry.
