Eurobike 14 – Pivot Phoenix DH
A look at the new Pivot DH bike, the Phoenix. 275 wheels, 204mm of travel and a proven linkage…

We’ve seen Bernard Kerr, Eliot Jackson and Micayla Gatto shredding world cups aboard the new Phoenix for a while now, and been taken by the clean and sweeping lines of the bike.

The Phoenix uses the same style of DW linkage that is found on Mach 6 trail bike, developed to form their DH bike platform.

The linkage features the so called “Bernard Bumper”,a small elastomer there just in case your shock has a problem to prevent any damage to the frame.

The linkages and the detailing on the bolts is superb.

Both the full builds and the framesets come with a Fox DHX RC4 shock, but take a standard shock so you could swap it out.

The downtube features a rubber guard that fits perfectly and doesn’t spoil the lines of the bike at all. The same guards feature on the chainstay as well.

The ports for the integrated cable routing are removed for fitting which should make assembly and maintenance easy. They also help complete the tidy look of the bike.

Up front the integrated fork shops also double as hose and cable ports, again keeping things neat and tidy.

The 157x12mm rear end features a dropout that is switchable to allow a direct mount rear mech to be used.

The bike was also fitted with a Pivot saddle, carbon seatpost and 800mm wide carbon handlebars.

The saddle has been developed in conjunction with WTB, and features a wider rail spacing at the rear and space to help prevent the tyre buzzing the saddle at full travel.

As soon as they are in the country, hopefully in the next month or two, we will sling a leg over one and bash it through some Welsh woods. It’s fair to say we can’t wait!
