Eurobike 14 – Leatt
Some really exciting developments from Leatt including a new neckbrace and a full face helmet!

Leatt are synonymous with neckbraces, and we’ve been testing the Five.Five for nearly a year now and have been very impressed, so we were very excited to spot some fresh products on the Leatt stand.

First up is the Six.Five brace in carbon fibre. The shape remains the same as the five.five but much, much thinner and about 200g lighter. All of the features and stylings we likes on the five.five remain, but in a slimmer format.

Leatt are also offering a full range of pads from the superlight Airflex pads to full coverage hybrid pads for more gravity orientated things.

The Airflex pads feature a dimpled design to aid in impact absorption as well as venting, and also have a strapless design for minimum fuss. The lack of bulk makes them really appealing for longer days in the saddle, and chatting to the designers, they have been proven both on the trails and in walking into furniture!

Leatt have a helmet!! Well two, this full carbon design, and a composite design. The development process is ongoing including input from the CRC DH Team on all the details from peak design and aesthetics to the practicality of racing the rain.

Following a similar style to the MIPS helmet adsorption, the Leatt lids make use of mini “turbines” that allow the helmet to rotate slightly and aid in impact absorption.

Leatt are exceptionally serious about protection, and the research and development they put into their products is superb. Check out the videos on their website for more about the design process and the science behind their products.

An early prototype of a very full on body and neck protector. I’m pretty sure you could get shot in this and survive.

Leatt have been developing their line of packs, and this one includes a carrier for full facer and neckbrace for the way up, and a sleeve to carry a half face lid back down again.

The hydration sleeve featured a silvered material to prevent your back from warming the water in the bladder, the bladder itself featuring a baffle to prevent water from sloshing about and helping with shape retention. A large entry zip lock top means cleaning is dead easy.

The bag also features a back protector that passed level 2 testing (many only pass level one), and plenty of pockets for lights, gels and a reinforced tool pouch. A neat touch is the inclusion of a waterproof pouch for your phone which is removable and your phone works through the material.
We also heard rumours about all sorts of exciting products in development, doubtless you can guess what they might be.
