Eurobike 14 – Day 3.3
Here’s round three of your daily dose of all things Eurobike with Urge, Fabric, Orange and Rocky Mountain…

Urge have a new helmet for trail use – the Supatrail, based around their XC lid.

Fabric are the sexy younger sister of Charge Bikes, making some very pimp looking saddles and other finishing kit. They are thinking outside the box and collaborating with all sorts of companies to help develop products.

Muc-Off were showing off their Team Sky blend of lube, designed to last during over 200km of hard racing in things like the Tour de France. This technology is sure to make it across the mountain bike line in due course.

They were also showing off a full range of creams for “personal care” and some exciting looking amino acid based creams to aid performance, warm up and so on. We will bring you some more details on these once we’ve had a go with them!

Muc-off wet lube in an aerosol spray.

The Orange Alpine 160 has had a make-over; rather than just cramming 275 wheels in they have lowered the bb, slackened the head angle, steepened the seat tube and made it nearly an inch longer in the front triangle.

The Orange Segment is a Strava destruction machine – 120/100mm travel and 29″ wheels make it perfect for ticking off those trail centre KOMs.

Rocky Mountain let slip that they have a brand new DH bike being developed at the moment to be finished in full carbon. All they had was a photo in the background on a stand and a drunk guy at a party…

This guy invented the Magic Link that Kona used for a while. He’s back with a colourful design that allows the suspension to be really firm under pedalling while instantly becoming plush in the rough stuff.

Kore have a dropper post in development including a really neat head that allows the offset to be swapped from 20mm to 5mm. Cable actuated, stealth routed and very tidy. Olly wasn’t very keen to let us take a photograph, so instead, why not enjoy his serious look.

Kore are alwasy good for a nice cold beer, and also for some very clever grips. Single clamp and an ergonomic multi thickness rubber.

The top-end Fox Rampage Carbon now has the MIPS system, as well as some pimp new colours. Will this be on the head of a World Champion next week?

7iDP have been continuing to develop their range ready for market, sadly been a bit delayed but they were also showing off some great pads – the Transition is a knee pad that rolls up to the size of a pair of socks – great for keeping in your bag “just in case”.

The designers at 7iDP are very particular and not prepared to put things to market until they are just right. Expect to see a lot more of this over the coming year.

Absolute Black are a small manufacturer with big ideas. They use rare-earth magnets in their free-hub mechanism to ensure perfect engagement.

They have a really distinctive look, but there is more to it than just aesthetics. The shape and variable thickness of the body ensures a really stiff hub that prevents any fractional twist that could cause misalignment or premature wear on bearings. We will get a pair built up and on a bike as soon as we can.

Absolute Black were also showing off an oval wide-narrow chainring that fits a regular set of cranks.
