Eurobike 13 – Strange 29er Prototype
More British made goodies… Strange is the name all of Orange Bikes’ prototypes get, we check out this big wheeled enduro bike.
The guys at Orange make their beautiful monocoque frames in Halifax, just down the road from the office. This gives them the opportunity to give ideas a go without the hassle of a back and forth with the far East. This super early prototype bike was finished last week and only just made it on to the van out. Orange didn’t want to put a name to this beast, but it sits in the Alpine 160 neck of the woods, though the Patriot was mentioned as well.

The bike itself is a 160mm travel rear end, with the shock mounted within the downtube, similar to the 322, to make the suspension a little more progressive.

With the new Rock Shox Pike up front, the head angle was given at sixty five degrees.

29er wheels are shod with the latest rubber from Maxxis. As more and more aggressive tyres make the leap to 29er, more companies are having a go with bigger wheels on their more gravity focused bikes.
