Eurobike 13 – Pivot Mach 6
Brand new from Pivot Cycles for 2014 is arguably one of the nicest bikes we saw this year at Eurobike, the Mach 6. This all new fully carbon frame from Pivot is designed for the best enduro riders out there, to push the limits of what this bike can achieve, got fast and win.

With many attributes learnt from the Mach 5.7 the, Mach 6 moves onto the 275 wheel platform. This isn’t just a wheel size squeezed in here though, this has been designed from the ground up with 275 in mind along with some other ideas that have been nestling away in the designers head for a long time. Actually Chris Cocalis(Pivot Founder), had the idea of the bike and the platform designed three years ago, but it wasn’t until the bigger brands such as Scott and Cube started working on the bigger platform that it gave him the green light for Pivot to get moving on this new bike.

The carbon finish on this bike is fantastic, infact I would go as far as to say there is probably only one other MTB brand out there with this level of finish currently on the market. It’s manufacturing process is a little different to others using a foam type of mold, how they then get that mould out though we do not know, that’s a factory hush-hush.

The Pivot Mach 6, like the rest of their full suspension bikes uses the DW link as seen in the likes of the latest Morewood trail bikes and the legendary Iron Horse Sunday. The links on this frame however have ben slimmed right down for extra stiffness, they are super short, backed up by the top spec Fox Float X shock providing 155mm of travel. No bushings on this frame either, bearings over the entire design.

It’s the geometry which makes a bike, on top of the suspension system, and the Pivot is bag up to date with current trends. A 66 degree head angle, a low 13.6” bottom bracket height and responsively short chainstay length should get this bike handling like a dexterous machine well on any descent.

Cable routing throughout the frame is well thought out and covert. There is also routing for a Stealth suspension seatpost to round up the trimness.

Simple, but this little bit of plastic will help you get the sag right on your bike save you fiddling around with a rule.

Although not to everyone’s taste, a push fit 92 bb shell is fitted to this bike to provide extra stiffness and let you use a massive bearing for longevity. Bolted next to it you can fit a chain device using the ISCG 05 mounting.

Three colours going into production, which one do you prefer?
