Eurobike 13 – Demo Day 1.1
Every year Friedrichshafen in Germany hosts the world’s biggest cycle trade show, and once again we are in attendance to give you the latest scoop on what’s hot in the world of mountain biking for 2014.
The day before the show gets underway for real is the infamous demo day, we headed down to check it out for the first time. We took a few bikes out for a spin around a purpose built trail, as well as checking out some of the latest kit in the small expo area.

All kinds of brands are available to demo, and believe us, all kinds of bikes too.

Canyon were just one of the brands with a huge choice of bikes available to demo on the purpose built trails.

The superb looking Canyon Torque DHX.

This lovely little Canyon Slopestyle bike caught our eye.

The trails were perfect for those wanting to test out bikes, like the GT Sensor we got our hands on.

They were also the perfect testing ground for those with less bike handling skills.

We also took the very interesting Cube Stereo e-bike out for a ride, super fun downhill & incredible on the climbs.

Fat bikes are everywhere at this year’s show, we’ll bring you more on them later in the week.

This Ghost DH bike was sporting some exciting looking SR Suntour forks, we’ll bring you a detailed update on these later in the week.

With Mick Hannah and team bringing them into limelight, Polygon were showing off a great looking range including the Colossus.

The Cube Fritzz was a hit with demo riders today, 180mm of travel but still capable back up the hill – 26 inch wheels.

Lapierre have tweaked and twiddled with their range, including this stealthy zesty featuring SRAM’s XX1, and the EI system that tweaks the suspension settings as you ride based on feedback from a cadence meter in the cranks and sensors in the forks.

Another hit with riders today was the Scott Genius LT, rolling on the new 275 wheels.

A very pimp Troy Lee Designs painted Specialized.

The new, and much anticipated RockShox Pike Fork. SRAM talk us through the new technology.
“The Charger damper is set up similar to the brain damper from Specialized, a unit approx 4 inches long. The main difference is that while the Specialized system uses a hard case to dampen the whole fork which takes a relatively large force to move, the Pike now features a bladder. This works a lot more easily, and combined with the black finish both inside and out to make the fork work with much less force resulting in a super plush fork action.”

The TR and AM Nukeproof Mega have got a little bigger this year hitting the 275 wheel size, Ride.io will be leaving the terms 27.5 and 650b behind. Both bikes will be coming with the Nukeproof factory Pro and Comp build options for 2014 and with the bb dropped a little, and the other tubes made a little longer the bike now sits well with 275 wheels fitted. We will have more info on the Megas and the rest of Nukeproof’s kit later this week.
Food of the Day – Meat, served in bread. Stay tuned all week as we bring you all the best bits of Eurobike 2013

Stay tuned for more from the team, currently posting from late night Mark Donald’s Burger House.
