Gloves were a new area for 7. Rather than re-hashing some Royal Racing ones (Royal and 7 share a design team) they have developed a range of 4 styles. The Flex, fits somewhere in the middle with a thin perforated palm and minimal protection across the back of the hand.

The Transition glove is super thin, minimalist and light, again with a perforated palm.

The Tactic is the burliest of the summer gloves with a bit more protection across the back and some rubberised reinforcement around the heel of your hand to try and help keep you in one piece.

The Arctic glove is their Winter glove. With a slightly thicker palm and back it should be ideal to stave off the misery of winter.

The super-light Transition pads have a wrap around version this year meaning you no longer need to take your shoes off to put it on – really handy as it’s designed around being rolled up and shoved in a pack until you get to your descent. There’s also a full ankle support designed to support properly but also to allow the proper movement for pedalling and being on the bike. Designer Nick spannered his ankle earlier in the year so he had a vested interest in this being comfortable and effective!

Wrap around Transition pads, and also in their rolled up form – perfect for big days in the hills. Having sacrificed kneepads on a really long ride the other day and giving my knee a good belting I’m looking forward to getting a pair of these into my pack.

The Flex pads also get both a wrap around and a removable shin guard that will come in a couple of lengths meaning you can use the same set of pads for more than one type of riding easily.

The thin under-armour has gained a few pockets for water, snacks and tools, removing the need to run a pack for racing.

The 7iDP helmets continue for this year, with a full facer, half face and a piss-pot style lid.

There are some subtle colourways, and some pretty rowdy set-ups as well!

There is also a limited run of very jazzy coloured pads for those of you who want to make a bright statement!
