7 Picks – Cube Bikes 2017
Cube Two 15 HPA SL 27.5
I guess, really, it had to be our favorite didn’t it. We’ve eagerly been waiting for this since we first saw it on show in 2016, but this time it really is here in production. We think you’ll agree that the SL looks the piece as a race bred machine and having seen what Greg Williamson can put together on it, we know it’s more than capable.

Keeping this Aluminum gives Cube the ability to mix up the making of the bike as time progresses, for now we have moved to a more progressive linkage and slacker angles to get it dialed. Alu might not be the latest fab in frame tech manufacture, but its proven and helps keep the costs down for the consumer. That said, I’m sure Cube will push for a carbon DH rig soon…

Stats;
63 degree Head Angle
3 sizes
Fox 40 Float Factory RC2 Fit Kashima fork
RRP £5199.00
Cube Stereo 160 HPA TM 27.5
The Cube Stereo range itself is colossal, but I’ve picked out a couple here that shouted out at us. Out of the factory in 1x, wide bars and big air can suspension, this Stereo 160 HPA TM 27.5 is right on the ball with the colour way. It’s different, distinctive yet doesn’t shout out Euro like Cube colours often can.

As Cube always do, the colours are matched custom for them through the components, most notably the SDG saddle also which is a new component highlight for 2017.

Stats;
e*thirteen trs+ chain guide
35mm/760mm RaceFace bars
Rock Shox reverb stealth
RRP £2899.00
Cube Slasher Pedal
Didn’t expect to see a pedal in here did you? New for 2017 is the Slasher flat pedal. Wide, low in profile and fairly light, this pedal boasts a sealed cartridge friction bearing and two sealed industrial bearings pedal flat along with a set of pins which are replaceable and height adjustable.

Stats;
Integrated bottle opener
Washers to adjust pin height
390g
RRP £79.99
Cube Stereo Hybrid 120 C:62 SLT 500 29
What a tittle! Look at this machine though. Sifting back through my memories, its always interesting to see bikes born which you have dreamt about. But a full suspension, 29er, carbon, electric mountain bike powered by Bosch, who dreamt this one up?

Stats;
18.6kg
Rock Shox RS-1, Carbon Upside-down fork
Sram XO1 eagle, 12-speed
RRP £5999.99
Cube Stereo C:68 Action Team 27.5
You have to love a factory edition ride, Cube do this well. It’s another 275 Stereo we have here, but in full racing mode. 160mm front and rear, 1x (11×46), Kashima all round and a chain device from a DH bike, this is a race winning machined out of the box.

Stats;
Full Carbon frame
Schwalbe Magic Mary/Hans Dampf 2.35
Fox Float X Factory remote rear shock
RRP £5199.00
Cube Two 15 HPA Race 27.5
Much like the SL, the Race is exactly the same frame set that we see the Cube Global Squad racing at a World Cup level. The Two15 Race offers a great price point with a more subtle paint job for those of us who like to slip under the radar while still bringing home a great spec.

Stats;
Frameset available in Squad colours with Fox Float X2 Factory shock, SDG saddle and post for £1599
RaceFace Chester 35mm bar/stem
MRP G3 chain device
RRP £3199.00
Cube Reaction Hybrid HPA SLT 500
An e-bike hardtail is far from the product we would normally cover, but the Reaction Hybrid is introducing some new standards which I think we are going to see far more of soon. Firstly is the new frame here for Cube. The downtube is once piece, made from liquid alumimium, which has made for a smoother battery integration and a skid plate underneath. It’s a little heavier than their previous frame, but offers far more stiffness, gives space for a bottle holder and allows you to charge the battery while in the frame. Battery integration is coming, so it’s nice to see Cube moving forward with this working together with Bosch.

Secondly, is a new tyre size… And yeah, it’s in between again. 2.6 That said, I expect this size just to sit on e-bikes for now, at least I hope it does.

Stats;
Schwalbe Nobby Nic kevlar 2.6 tyres
Bosch drive Unit with 250 watts and 75Nm
21.2kg
RRP £2999.00
So that’s my little 7’s into the Cube 2017 range. One things for certain, Cube Bikes have an extensive range with bikes to fit almost everyone’s use in there. Infact, 202 UK models to be precise, 39 of them being Stereo’s!
