Good luck getting classic insurance under 25 - I don't think anybody does it for your age category.

Either way, you'll be screwed over by the insurance companies.   I honestly don't know how young drivers cope with the cost???

@ Ross - new cars may be safer, but they also cost more to buy.   Many people have an old banger first car because they can't afford anything else... 

@ viper - yeah, that sounds a very sensible first car....

First cars need to be group 1, and preferably something that's cheap to repair, ie European production not some Korean POS with mega expensive parts. Forget the road tax, the fuel, everything else, they're small costs compared to insuring it.

Ideal world best case scenario: 5 year old aygo/c1/107, garaged in a sensible area, 6k miles/year with a black box so you don't feed it after midnight.
