                                          South Downs Racing

South Downs Racing is the brainchild of former National DH Champion Keith Wilson and National BMX winner James Christie. We are aiming to provide events which will cater for all levels of riders and have a huge element of fun.
We are pleased to announce our first event which will be held at Porc on Saturday 28th of April. This is the weekend of the National 4x Series which is taking place on Sunday. With the Down Hill race on the Saturday and 4X on the Sunday, we hope to be able to attract more riders to have a go at each discipline and also with camping available make a fantastic weekend!  To cater for this, there will be a hard tail category which depending on numbers may be divided into age groups.j
We appreciate we are not blessed with huge mountains in the South of England; however with Keith’s vast experience we can offer exciting challenging courses.

The categories are as follows
Jouth 12 – 16 (this be divided further depending on numbers)
Senior 17 – 29
Masters 30 – 39
Senior 40 +
Female (this may be divided depending on numbers)
Hard tail (this may be divided depending on numbers
Trophies for the top 3 in each category
Track will open at 08.30
Registration 08.00 – 10.30 (sharp)
Cost £20.00 per rider
Pre Registration is now open; please email your Full Name, Date of Birth, Category and Team to southdownsracing@gmail.com
Pre Registration will close on Thursday 26th at 19.00
Registration on the day is available up to 10am

Keith and James are very approachable guys and will welcome any input/ideas into how we can make our events better and look forward to seeing you on the 28th

Cool is it the same price for preregistration and on the day registration?
Who's doing the timing, not stop watches?
I see you have a jouth is that Junior or Youth and what about the ripper category?
when will the track be mark out for practice, the week before?

Hi Marlow

Thank you for your comments.

No stop watches for us !!!

Yes the price will be the same, BUT, when the Registration closes, it closes no matter who or how many are in the que as we want to be able to run an event on time and without to much delay, I hope that makes sense.

Ripper has been a thought, again if we have numbers we can open it up

Sneeky practise? that's just not English is it? :-) Keith is heading down as early as tomorrow to make a start, he will also be there for the week before so in answer to your question errmmmm not sure! :-) What would be cool is to have an open practise on the friday! (ill see if we can do that)

Also, did I mention a DJ who will be throwing out some tunes?

ALSO, the trophies will be very different!!

Marlow

Its a very valid question, we are just finalising which option! we appreciate this isnt the answer your looking for, however, If we don't have micro timing or similar (Rolex lol), we would rather not run the race as correct timing is crucial and every tenth of a second does count.

We hope to have the timing sorted within the next couple of days.

Pleased to announce that the timing will be provided by mikrotime timing systems. Times will be displayed as they happen.  :)

Just to let you all know that Keith has built the track we are going to use, it has been taped out giving you a couple of weeks to ride it in.

We would appreciate your views and welcome ideas to make it even better.
