Just had a little browse on this ere thread and I reckon there is a bit much on what you eat, protein, when to wake up. Stuff like that is fine for most, but for the (younger) people that might be missing the point......

It seems that if you want to get rid of fat eat less fat and do a version of XC cycling, ie something that makes you knackered, breath quickly and sweat lots, outside not just in the hot gym.

If you want more muscle do slow heavy weights and eat protein.

Simply put -
muscle, steak, soya, nuts =  protein
sugar, pasta, rice, fructose, glucose, lactose = carbohydrate - normal energy source
butter, oil, pork fat, the stuff that is soft and covers your body.... = fat

Good topic guys

ok so I've been going to the gym a few times recently, and pushing it when I'm there, and when I come back I know I havnt warmed down enough as i get all stiff the next day (I'm assuming this is that lactic acid) so how do I warm down? just a few reps at an easier weight? If I have just done upper body exercises can I warm down on the treadmill? or does the warm down have to be more localised than that?

A few lighter warm up sets to start.
Never warmed down but always stretch in between and after sets.

streches, some time on the tredmill starting at a joging pace and after about 5- 10 mins ending up at a walking pace. some time on the bike on a relatively low resistance and not trying to go 10000 mph

here's the deal.

i'm out in Afgan atm, and cause of who i'm with, i'm able to spend alot of time in camp (i am infantry, im a para, so my job is different) as i only go out for a few hours at a time...

so, i want to get into the routine of going to the gym. i want to put on some muscle, but i want to get lean and defined, and i really want to get my 'v' back...

thing is, i don't have a clue what routine to do in the gym.

i'm already running everyday to help with weight loss (im not fat in anyway, just got that small layer around me)

so can someone give me advie on what i should be doing? maybay give me a routine? or even point me in the direction to get a routine?

there are no PTI's out here on my camp, so i can't ask them...

any pics of your build at the moment or more info on your weight?
Usain Bolt ran at 40 mph to break his previous world record. You might think that's good, but if he hits a child there's an 80% chance she'll die.

yer, my 'v' on my waist. saddly my virginity was stolen from me by a nice man, who gave me icecream... :'(

the 'fat', is on my stomach, its only pinch worthy, not handfuls, but its blockin the bottom half of my '6' pack...

stop eatin that ice cream then! its more of a fat loss thign mate than a bulking up job. you will get those when your bdy fat drops to a certain level, i would say get there first from cardio then you can target that area with leg raises, reverse crunches, and core stability stuff will help a bit also with that.

Hi Paul,
with reference to your tip of morning cardio...do you mean an absolutely empty stomach or something small......Would a 30 min session be ok for this?
