Title: Kielder Video
Post by: bullmonkey1 on Apr 02, 2012, 09:59
Check the unfinished track video ridden by Jack Reading and filmed by Gee Milner back in February http://www.pinkbike.com/video/249494/ (http://www.pinkbike.com/video/249494/)
Theres still a lot of work to be done! If you want to get involved keep an eye peeled for route clearing dates here and on the Northern Downhill Facebook page.
Cheers Phil
ps this route is event only!

Possibly some bedding in days prior open to those who have helped with the route clearing.
If anybody wants to get involved with the trail clearing look out for invites via the Northern Downhill Facebook page

Sorry mate misread that!
The reason its event only is that the route traverses some highly sensitive wildlife habitats crossing a section of the Kielderhead SSSI (Sites of Special Scientific Interest) which is one of Europe's most protected wildlife habitats.
In highly sensitive areas the ground will be protected to ensure the route does not rip up the ground. The events will be programmed around the most sensitive months.
A new race venue is definitely a step in the right direction. Although having another permanent venue would be better. This is the next best and should prove to be well worth the effort. A big thanks must go to the Forestry Commission for even considering our proposals.
