Eurobike 2016 – Box Components
There aren’t many alternatives to SRAM or Shimano gearing in the MTB world, and even fewer who offer a different shifter interface. Box components are one such company, so we went to check them out…
The PushPush shifter is perhaps the most exciting part of the Box One groupset; it has only one lever which covers pull and release functions.

The rear derailleur is comparatively standard, featuring a progressive clutch as well as the usual rear mech features.
Pivot-Tech allows the cable arm to fold away if hit, hopefully saving mech or hanger in a crash.

Box also offer an 11 – 46t, 11 speed cassette to go with their shifter and mech. All parts are Shimano compatible, so you can use a Box shifter with Shimano rear mech, or Shimano shifter with Box rear mech if you should want to.
The set is apparently similar to Shimano XT M8000 in weight, and Box are working on a Box Two range which should be comparable with Simano SLX. Technically the current cassette is a Box Two item, because the lighter Box One variant is still in development.
Pricing is EUR80 for the shifter, and EUR185 for the rear mech. Both will be available in December.
