Eurobike – Kali

Kali –

Started by Brad Waldron, after his career in the aerospace industry. He started out in a test lab a decade ago, a quest to evolve traditional helmet construction. Kali can now be considered as a benchmark in helmet construction, they call it Composite Fusion.

Kali keep the size and weight to a minimum by using in-molding technology. This is different method to traditional helmet contraction and it results in less material being used. They also use different densities of foam, in different cone shapes. This means they can meet the same impact protection but with a smaller overall product. The use of dual-density foam and cone shaped sections also means that the force of an impact is spread over a wider area, lessening the point impact in the event of a crash.

Interceptor

Lightweight, good coverage, lots of ventilation and enhanced protection, the Interceptor is Kali’s trail helmet. Including Composite Fusion, LDL, Nanocore and EPS technologies. This is also one of their lids which includes the BOA closure system, a similar design to that for tightening ski boots. I was luckily enough to get one of these to bring back from the show. Watch this space for more thoughts and details.

This is Kali’s answer to combat rotational forces during the event of a crash, LDL (low density layer). Small sections of specially designed Armor-Gel padding, specifically located throughout the interior of the helmet. It promises to reduce rotational forces by up to 25% and also low-g impact forces by up to 12%.
