Eurobike 16 – Yeti
Yeti announced some big changes to their lineup for 2017, splitting all bikes into two distinct series; Turq and Carbon. Turq is their premium line, boasting the latest in developments and technology, while Carbon models will feature a more affordable construction. Build kits reflect this, with the Turq series being specced with SRAM Eagle, Enve wheels and other premium components. Carbon models will be just as strong and stiff as their Turq brothers, but typically around 250 – 350g heavier in the frame, and feature less pricey build options (think Shimano XT). Visually the two series are pretty similar, so you certainly won’t feel inferior or left out on any bike from the Carbon line.
As well as the series changes, Yeti have refreshed the SB5 and SB5 Beti, and introduced a 650B+ bike, the SB5+.
The SB5 and Beti have improved standover clearance, slightly revised suspension kinematics (metric shock), and internal cable routing.
The SB5+ ships with 650B x 2.8″ tyres, but is compatible with 3.0″ should you feel the need.
Notable differences between the SB5+ and it’s slimmer cousin, the SB5, (other than tyre size) are the 5+’s elevated chain stay and imperial shock.
These new and updated models should be available by the end of October, and full details will be on Yeti’s website on the 6th September.
Yeti are putting more and more effort into their apparel lines, and will be launching a completely new line in January 2017; watch this space….
