Eurobike 15 – Day 3.2
Another round of Eurobike updates with fresh brakes from TRP, Muc-off, Orange and Crank Brothers.

TRP are owned by Tektro, and the Slate is their first proper foray into the mountain bike world. With a 4 piston calliper, the option to run 2 piece rotors and a great feeling lever these should be a hit. We first spotted them on the DMR Trailstar, and they will be coming into the UK via Upgrade.

The 4 pot caliper uses the same pads as Zee/Saint brakes so there are plenty of pad options available. Retail won’t break the bank with the US prices being about $120 a brake.

The Jeykll from Canondale, looking as fast as ever.

The Mallet DH from Crankbrothers has had a full internal overhaul, with their needle bearings being swapped out for some super smooth bushes.

The new internals, showing the double seal by the axle and metal end caps.

The Mallet E has been developed in conjunction with their enduro race team to reach a mid ground between the full sized mallet and the more XC focused Candy range. Plenty of support, a few less pins and some tweaking to the size and shape to keep it clear of any rock strikes are the name of the game with these.

They have also taken a fresh look at the flat pedal, and produced two sizes for those of us with massive feet, and those with more dainty numbers. The Stomp comes in two sizes, both are 13mm thick with a slight concave, the large being for folk with feet over about size 9, and the small for those below that.

The idea was to reduce this situation of tiny feet not getting the most out of massive modern flats, and massive feet hanging off pedals that were too small.

Muc-Off showed us their fabric protect spray, which works a treat at protecting against water and other filth.

They also had their rig for testing the efficiency of chain lubes, and are working on a mountain bike version that will be full of mud!
The Orange 324 DH bike is here and good to go. Two builds – one with Boxxer Team/Vivid RC2 and Zee for £4,200, and £4,900 for a model rocking Fox 40s and a DHX2 – this one weighing in at 35.75lbs.

P7 – reimagined for the new generation.
