Epic Bleed Kit Solutions – Bleed Kit Review

Bleeding brakes is never a fun job. It should be super straight forward but often it’s a like a dark art. Thankfully Epic Bleed Solutions might have err…. a solution.

Bleeding brakes is not a job we relish. It often ends with brake fluid over hands, floor or worse – your bike and more air in the system than you originally started out with. So having a made to measure bleeding kit is pretty much the perfect solution to making the job a stress free and dare we say it… an enjoyable or at least satisfying process?

Epic Bleed Solutions started out after flat refusing to pay over £40 for a genuine Avid Bleed Kit, so decided to bodge together there own with a couple of old syringes, some tubing and off the peg adaptors. It was crude but effective and that kick started the journey into producing high quality off the shelf bleed kits that were both easy to use and inexpensive. Zip forward and EBS now produce Bleed Kits for pretty much every brake manufacturer going including a universal kit.

In the kit you get everything you need to effectively and easily bleed your brakes and get them performing as good as new again. Everything is neatly packaged and the user guide included with each kit makes the process super easy. On paper brake bleeding should be a straight forward affair. You’re simply sea-sawing fluid through the system removing any air along the way but that simple process can become very messy very quickly and when you don’t have proper kit and try and bodge something together (we’ve all done it) you end up in a pool of brake fluid, ruined pads, discs and a system that now functions almost entirely on air.

By having the right syringes with the right attachments and importantly a guide to the right technique the job becomes a simple 15 minute job. I bled 3 sets of Shimano brakes with my kit in less than an hour and by following the included guide the brakes were as good as they were the day I took them out the box. At £14.99 a pop (£9.99 without fluid) these kits are pretty much a must-have for your tool box. I’ll certainly be ordering more kits to use on my Avids and Hope brakes and keeping my tool kit well stocked.

It’s a no-brainer. With brake performance being so important then bleeding brakes is something that should not be avoided and for the sake of 10 or 15 quid you have everything you need to get them back to tip-top condition. We use them with #TheBox at the BDS and get racers back on track with sharp brakes.
