Racers Rides – Simon Ward
The third of our Racers Rides Series and we catch up with Simon Ward At Fort William to take a closer look at his Morewood Makulu.

First off, who are your sponsors for this year and what category do you ride in?
I ride in the Senior category. This year the RAF Downhill Team is supported by the RAF Sports Lottery, Burgtech, J-Tech, Decade and Saracen. Not to mention the RAF who support riders competing in a range of mountain bike disciplines with travel, equipment, and most importantly the time to race.

Can you give us a break down of the full spec of your bike?
2014 Morewood Makulu, BOS Suspension, Formula brakes, SRAM drivetrain and Spank finishing kit.

How much does it weigh?
No idea!
Have you done any mods to it?
I run a ghetto tubeless setup which never fails. Not much else custom on it!

Any interesting or standout features?
My superstar pedals which have lasted forever, the BOS Stoy/Idylle combo rides like nothing else I have ridden, so plush.

Is there a particularly type of track or terrain where the bike really shines?
When the going gets rough…
Where do you practice most?
Mostly on local DH trails in the Highlands. The nearest big downhill track is Fort William.

Sum up your bike in three words
Plush, smooth, nimble.

Cheers Si. Good luck for the rest of the season!
