2nd Slice of Ice Bike
2nd Slice time and in this portion we look at Saracens team bikes, some kit from Thule, Shimano and Light and Motion.

In 2015, this is the exact bike that we will see Manon Carpenter hit up the UCI World Cup. Spec wise it looks to be hauling pretty much the same kit as in 2014.

Rear 275 wheel encased in a carbon triangle.

This is the new Thule VeloCompact 927 3 bike holder with a 4th bike adapter. Features include easy boot access with the tilt function, a locking mechanism for the bikes and the ability to take bikes with a much larger wheelbase.
Thule VeloCompact 925 £319.99

You can’t go to a Madison show without having a look at their bikes specifically built to show off groupsets. This Shimano coloured Myst has the Saint groupset dribbled all over it.

Two Myst’s in the 2015 Saracen Bikes range, both with a 275 setup and carbon rear end.
Saracen Myst Team RRP £4899.99
Saracen Myst Pro RRP £2999.99

The Myst Team has a spec which almost matches that of the Madison Saracen Team bikes.

The Kili Flyer Carbon is one of our favorite ‘trail’ type bikes about at the moment. With the Kili Flyer you gain many features you normally only find on a bigger travel bike, but at just 120mm it’s a bike which may suit many riders as a second bike to sit alongside the DH rig rather than one of the many bikes which is now getting so close in terms of travel.
Saracen Fili Flyer Team RRP £3699.99

Like the Myst, we have two Ariel’s in the 2015 range. They don’t start on a budget anymore though, the lower spec version starts close to 3k.
Saracen Ariel 151 RRP £2899.99
Saracen Ariel 152 RRP £3299.99

At heart, Light and Motion are a diving company. Born from this side of the market, Light and Motion now have their own light which connects to a GoPro, aptly named the Sidekick. To make it waterproof for diving, charging is external so the user never needs to open the light’s seal, taking it safely up to depths of 60 meters. OTT perhaps for Mountain Biking but you’d never need worry about water ingress out on the trails again.
To get the funding for the new Sidekick, Light and Motion created a KickStarter project which proved very successful.
There will be two models, one with flood and spot lights, the other just with flood. UK prices are TBC.
Light and Motion Sidekick (Flood) RRP $129.99
Light and Motion Sidekick (Flood & Spot) RRP $149.99

The Urban range has proven very popular amongst commuters as a robust and lightweight headlight. A GoPro style mounting system is now available, which can be retro fitted to previous models.

So this is a bit of a road setup, but you can see what you can create with this new mount sitting alongside a Garmin on a K-Edge bracket, keeping your gadgets neat and tidy on the bars.

I’d like to buy one of those GoPro style mounting brackets as shown to mount to my K-Edge. I called Motion and they told me they arent made? Can some please tell where they are available and who makes them?
