Guillaume Cauvin Joins Giant DH Squad

French Downhiller Guillaume Cauvin is the latest signing for the Giant DH team. He’ll be joining Marcelo Gutierrez and Alex Marin for 2015.

French downhill racer Guillaume Cauvin will join Marcelo Gutierrez and Alex Marin on the Giant Factory Off-Road Team’s 2015 World Cup DH squad. The 20-year-old from Cannes is a former French Cup junior champion and was a consistent performer in the elite men World Cup last season.

“I’m looking forward to joining Marcelo and Alex this season and getting a chance to race on the Glory 27.5 and other new Giant bikes,” Cauvin said. “I know Giant has a strong history of supporting and developing up-and-coming downhill racers and I’m excited to now be part of that tradition.”

With Cauvin’s signing, the 2015 Giant Factory Off-Road Team lineup is complete. The roster features an international lineup of riders from five different nations, and will aim to build on the momentum that carried it to national championships, podiums and stage victories at major 2014 events including World Cups and Enduro World Series races.

“We’re really excited to be adding a rider with Guillaume’s raw potential and talent to the team,” said Joe Staub, manager of the Giant Factory Off-Road Team. “We have a system of building champions—from coaching to product development to overall support—and Guillaume will fit right in here.”

Cauvin turned lots of heads last year when he posted top-20 finishes at World Cup races in South Africa, Austria and France. He hopes to continue that upward trajectory this season as he joins five-time Colombian downhill national champion Gutierrez on the DH squad. Also representing Giant at downhill events is Marin, a 17-year-old Spaniard with a handful of podiums and wins at the World Cup and national level in the junior ranks.

The Giant Factory Off-Road Team also has an enduro lineup led by another Frenchman, Yoann Barelli. Joining Barelli on the enduro squad is Australian Josh Carlson and American Adam Craig. All three had some strong individual race and stage performances at the Enduro World Series last year.

Beyond the global riders, next year’s team also includes American XC and enduro racer Carl Decker. The veteran rider won his fifth Downieville All-Mountain world championship last year and will continue to focus on a variety of enduro, XC and cyclocross events in 2015. And Seamus Powell, a 24-year-old two-time U.S. Super D national champion, joins the team as a U.S. development rider.

All of the Giant Factory Off-Road Team riders will have a full quiver of Giant bikes to race and train with, including Glory 27.5 downhill bikes, Reign Advanced 27.5 enduro machines, Trance Advanced 27.5 trail bikes and Anthem Advanced 27.5 and XtC Advanced SL 27.5 XC bikes.
