Zyro Trade Show October 2014
Chris Lazenby went along to Harrogate to meet the guys and girls from Zyro and to see what they will be offering their customers in 2015. Here is just a small selection of what caught his eye.

Bell – The new Super 2R with it’s ‘game changing removable chin-bar’. This is Bell’s latest offering in the world of the 2 piece all-mountain head protection. The removable chin guard does seem to be very secure and clips in to the sides and the rear of the helmet in a similar way to ski bindings. The helmet also features the new MIPS and a breakaway camera mount. Time will tell what the rules will be regarding 2 piece helmets in enduro racing, if they are allowed, this could be a very popular option to go for. Bell Super 2R with chin guard – £149.99 (without Mips) – £174.99 (with Mips). It is also available as a 1 piece helmet only for £99.99/£124.99 (without/with Mips).

Camelbak – The latest bag to come out with built in back protection, this K.U.D.U comes in 12 and 18L versions. Neither comes supplied with a bladder but both include their new flexible back panel that meets EN 1621-2 standard for impact protection. The neat way in which it is designed allows it to be lightweight, and very flexible while still achieving these safety standards. K.U.D.U 12 – £129.99 and 18 – £149.99. Hopefully more information and an in-depth look at these soon

Altura, they have redesigned their range and this new jacket falls in their Attack 360 range. This is an all day trail jacket providing a great combination of protection from the elements, durability and comfort. Altura also had on a show their new mountain bike and flat pedal suitable winter over shoe and a bib-short with a waterproof rear panel to keep our behinds dry in the coming months

Cateye – They have a wide variety of lights ranging from the basic to these, the Volt 1200 (left) and the Volt 700 (right). While these don’t have the epic lumen figures that some other lights do, they manage with 1200 and 700 lumen output. They manage well though due to Cateye’s photometrics and advanced lens technology, this means that every bit of light produced is optimised and aimed forwards to where you need it. The smaller Volt 700 uses a similar battery to other lights in the range and these can be interchanged. Should your front light be getting low towards the end of a ride, swap it out with the rear one. Both the 1200 and the 700 are USB chargeable and come with various lighting modes to extend battery life. Cateye Volt 1200 – £149.99, Volt 700 £99.99. Word has it that Cateye are working on something huge in the lighting department for next year, watch this space.

Giro – The new Cipher helmet is Giro’s offering for the downhill market. Coming in at only £149.99, it certainly has the features of a more expensive lid. Integrated POV camera mount with break away design, channelled ventilation along the brow line, Removable lining and cheek pads, Anti-microbial padding, D-ring fastening, audio speaker compatible with a cable management system to keep it neat and tidy. It comes in 7 different colour ways from the understated black, show here, to more bold and striking designs.

Giro – The Jacket is a flat soled shoe from Giro that caters for those who stay clear of the SPD. Pedal grip is delt with by Giro’s Vibram rubber, a compound and tread pattern that have been design for exceptional grip that won’t break down easily. Cushioning and protection is included in the right places to help reduce shock and impact from rough terrain and hard landings. Giro Jacket – £99.99
