Eurobike 14 – Box Components
It’s not everyday something comes along in the cycle industry to go up against two of the biggest players. But that’s exactly what Box are doing with their new x10 shifter and derailleur system.

Working on a Shimano pull, both the derailleur and trigger shifter will be compatible with other Shimano products.

The shifter is the real master piece here. Using what they call a push technology on just one trigger, you change up with a click and back down with a push.
The trigger paddle is going to come in a few different lengths so suit rider and shift style. Some riders will use their thumb to push back down, while others may just nudge it slightly meaning you won’t need to loose any grip on the bar.

The rear mech works in a very similar way to the Shimano and for pre production, we think it looks pretty smart. More cage lengths will be coming soon as well.
With a summer release, the retail will be around the Shimano XT mark and will be distributed in the UK by More Large.

As well as the gears, Box have put together some nice looking cockpits.

The Carbon bars stand out feature is what they call the dart, some aggressive shapes on the center section of the bar, coming from Box’s BMX background. Featuring 15 and 30mm rise and at 800mm wide they are on the ball with DH handlebar trends.

Box have also put together a silly light MTB stem which is still in proto stages along with a direct mount variant for double crown forks.
Expect to see some Box kit on one of our test rigs very soon.
